Our mission is to pursue mastering excellence bringing mental awareness to forms of abuse while repairing and redirecting young ladies of all ethnicities through workshops.

There are so many girls who battle physical, mental and verbal abuse that leads to depression. In most cases it's caused by family members, a spouse or peers. Many of these girls will either become juveniles, pregnant at a young age, or choose the street life for refuge. Many of these ladies don't finish school and rarely think of positive ways to better their future due to lack of self confidence caused by abuse and depression. The reason why I am interested in starting my organization is because I am one of those girls who once suffered from physical and verbal abuse as well as depression.

   Pursue me is a non-profit organization that will uplift and elevate the lives of young ladies of abuse. I plan to start seeking the attention of young ladies who are attending schools all over the city. I also would like to pursue young ladies in the juvenile system who tend to use defiance as an outlet. My plan is to show up at different schools and facilities to provide haircare for the girls which will be my way of providing comfort and trust for them. I also plan to have weekly group sessions as an attempt provide an outlet to reduce stress and to provide a safe haven to keep them out of the streets. In these sessions I plan to provide resources to assist these girls with reaching their goals to prepare them for the future such as obtaining a high school diploma, GED, and job training. I will also be providing hair care services as well as hygiene care packages for the ladies that attend each session and/or annual event. As each young lady accomplishes her individual goals in the program I would like to present them with a gift certificate, purse, and a complimentary hairstyle for their accomplishments on behalf of Pursue Me.

    Pursue Me is a goal I have always wanted to accomplish because I am well aware of the negative effects abuse can cause. I once was a young girl who experienced abuse in many forms. I had become so use to the abuse that I began to believe that's how love was shown...until it turned into depression. Even in the midst of that, I was also the young lady who decided she wanted better for herself and future. As I began to have children, I began to look for resources to elevate in my life. I found exactly what I needed to further my future at the Indianapolis Urban League. They assisted with one of my life changing decisions. Pursue Me will also be an outlet for myself because I wasn't fortunate enough to have a group session to release the pain of all the verbal and physical abuse I endured. Being rewarded for an accomplishment that you have manifested is a beautiful experience and I'm grateful that I'm able to be of influence to each individual young lady. I hand craft earrings and sell them as a a fundraiser for our events and the needs of the young ladies. We are grateful for all the support we've received and look forward to servicing your girls in the future.
